Katedra filozofie FF UP v Olomouci si vás dovoluje pozvat na přednášky "The Most Good You Can Do: The Ethical Questions Posed by Effective Altruism" a "Animal Liberation, Forty Years On", které prosloví prof. Peter Singer (Princeton University; University of Melbourne), autor slavné knihy Osvobození zvířat.
První přednáška se uskuteční v pondělí 15. 6. od 10:30 v Kapli Božího těla (Umělecké centrum UP Konvikt, Univerzitní 3, Olomouc), druhá pak v úterý 16. 6. ve stejný čas na stejném místě.
Kvůli zvýšenému zájmu se účastníci musí registrovat, je třeba vyplnit tento formulář.

Abstract:
Effective altruism is an emerging movement of people concerned to do the most good they can. It raises many ethical issues, including: what is "the most good"? Can we make objective comparisons of the good done by different charitable causes? What motivates people to be altruistic?

Abstract:
Animal Liberation was first published in 1975. I will recapitulate the central argument of the book and will then ask how well this argument stands up today. I will also consider, from a more practical point of view, what has happened over the past 40 years in this area, and how further progress can be made.
